Indiana Lodging for Bird Watching Vacations
 |
Welcom to Rosemont Inn, a bed & breakfast
located in a beautifully restored 1881 Victorian mansion in Southern
Indiana on the banks of the Ohio River. The wicker furniture filled front porch is a great place to spend an
afternoon, just watching the river flow by. If you like history you will find Rosemont fascinating. You can spend
hours looking through our scrapbooks filled with history on the Hay
Kings who built the Southern Indiana area in the 1800's. We have
extensive history and pictures with family trees dating back into the
16th Century. Vevay Indiana is a
sleepy little river village of about 1800 souls. The town the river
and the rolling hills and farms around it are much as they where in the
1800's when the "Hay Trade" built Rosemont. For our bird watcher's the area has an abundance
of county and State parks nearby, only 6 miles upriver is the Markland
Dam and river lock. Maybe you'll be lucky and see the famous
Mississippi or Delta Queens locking through. |

The Sherman House Restaurant & Inn,
offering bed and breakfast accommodations, has
been a dining and lodging destination since 1852. You will feel
comfortable the moment
you enter the door.
Ideal for a weekend getaway, the Sherman
House is perfect for a visit in any season. It
is also a terrific crossroads meeting place for friends and relatives,
conveniently
located midway between Cincinnati and Indianapolis, Exit 149, just off
I-74. The architect retained most of the original
timber
frame of yellow poplar girders, 30 inches
by 90 feet, which were in perfect condition after
80 years. They are still in place. In 1953
there was another complete renovation, and the
Old Vienna Café was created from designs and
sketches made in European cafes. Hoosier artist
Harold Hancock rendered the sketches. A full-service restaurant and lounge
offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and
cocktails. Fine dining in a casual
atmosphere. Specialties include our
Old World German and American
cuisine. You can tour the local woodworking
shop, take the John Hunt
Morgan driving tour, bike or go bird watching in Versailles
State Park (the second largest in Indiana),
visit the Milan '54 Museum Experience
(the movie Hoosiers was
based on this story), or take the Underground
Railroad driving tour. Whatever
your interest, make the Sherman
House your next destination.
