One of the few remaining
Greek Revival Southern Antebellum Homes, Bienvenue
House Bed and Breakfast was built in 1830
(National Register of Historic Places). The
home entirely built from cypress wood has hand
blown glass windows, cypress floors and period
antiques. Each of the four bedrooms has a
fireplace and bathroom with antique claw foot
bathtub. In the mornings a full gourmet breakfast
is provided. Centrally located to many
wildlife/bird-watching areas: Lake Martin
(Nature Conservancy Rookery) area to alligators,
egrets, herons, Roseate Spoonbills surrounded by
ancient cypress tress (Cajun
country swamp tours), Avery Island with the
famous Bird City Egret Rookery, Atachfalaya Basin
(largest wetland northern hemisphere) and close to
the Creole Nature Trail that has over 300 species
of birds with large migrations in fall, spring and

heat and A/C, kitchen, restrooms, and tables
provided for groups. We have LP Gas, grocery
store, playground, fishing supplies, 18-hole
mini golf course, and boat launch. The Lacassine
National Wildlife Refuge is primarily a freshwater
marsh with 3,346 acres with ducks, geese,
shorebirds, wading birds, marsh birds, egrets and
yes alligators. |
