Fields Station
is about as far as one can get from anywhere – 112 miles south of
Burns, and a long, long way from anywhere else in fact it is so far out
in the desert that airplanes occasionally land on the highway, pull in
to the gas station, and tank up right from the pumps. There is a cafe,
store, gas station, RV park, hotel/motel, post office, a few homes
& behind the store is a historic cemetery. Across the highway
from the cafe is a tree-lined pond, sometimes called the Fields Oasis,
where you can almost always find great-horned owls. Tom & Sandy say
come-on-down where else can you enjoy a great milkshake and
simultaneously photograph great-horned owls from six feet away?
