Rogers Country Inn is
a year-round vacation spot at the end of a quiet country road in
Vermont's "Northeast Kingdom." The same 350 acres have been in the
family since Jim's Scottish ancestors first settled here in the early
1800's. Jim's mother started "taking in guests" over forty years ago.
Any time of the year, you'll find plenty of peace and quiet and a
friendly atmosphere. Each side of the house provides scenic views of
woods and fields with mountains in the background. The large farmhouse
kitchen and dining area is the setting for Nancy's bountiful homecooked
meals, served family style. In the summer, Shadow Lake is nearby (3
miles) for fishing, boating and swiming. Crystal Lake (Barton) and Lake
Willioughby (Westmore) are 20 and 30 minutes away, respectively. If you
crave a little more privacy, a secluded cabin on the property sleeps
seven comfortably. Linens, dishes, washer and a private pond are
included or "Just Inn Time" our newly built year-round cabin looks out
over a large beaver pond: a haven for several species of bird, moose,
and, of course, beavers!. The cabin is cozy with its pine board
interior. |

I love sitting at
the bay window in our tea room and watching the birds. It has been a
feature the Rose Arbour
experience for over 15 years. Suzanne Nielsen, the innkeeper/chef at
Rose Arbour Tea Room, Gift Shop and Bed & Breakfast is an avid
bird
watcher and has incorporated her love of birds into the Rose Arbour tea
room experience. Guests at the tea room can sit at the beautiful bay
window that looks out on the rose arbour and watch birds visit the
several bird feeders and bird baths she provides for year round bird
observation. Ample cover is provided for the birds as they wit their
turns at the bird feeder. During the winter, the feeders are
particularly important for those birds that haven't migrated south. It
is not uncommon to see a cardinal pair against the white snow, and ,of
course, there are chickadees in abundance. Robins, blue birds, house
sparrows, gold finches, and blue jays are among other frequent
visitors. Come and enjoy our wonderful scones with a hot cup of tea or
a delicious lunch while you enjoy an abundance of birds outside your
window. If you love birding, there are an abundance of sites in and
around Chester where you can enjoy your hobby in the beautiful Vermont
countryside.
